2022 Year 2 Swimming - Term 1

During Term 1 2022, Year 2 students will be involved in an 8-lesson swimming program.

The lessons will be provided by St Andrews Aquatic Centre.
Swimming coaches will be supported by our school staff.
Lessons are each Monday. Starting Monday 21 February and will continue for 6 weeks. (Extra time has been allocated to each lesson so that students receive the equivalent of 8 weeks tutoring)

Learning to swim and survive is an essential part of the Health and Physical Education syllabus. All students are expected to participate every week. An explanation from parents is required from any student unable to participate or to swim for a lesson.

The cost per child for swimming is $66.50 PLEASE NOTE: This charge is non-refundable in the case of a child not swimming on any day/days as all payments are made prior to students participating in this activity. The last day for payment is Wednesday 16 February 2022. Payments can be made using a link to BPoint at the bottom of your emailed invoice, or via the Qkr! app.

Students will walk to St Andrews Pool each week in school shoes, school hat and swim gear.
In accordance with Education Queensland policy developed in consultation with the QCPCA, students must have a sun shirt or T-shirt to be able to swim, as well as having long hair tied back.
We strongly recommend ALL students bring a swimming cap and swim goggles to use at the pool.
Students are to use water resistant 30+ sunscreen.
Suitable swimming clothing and a towel will assist your child in having a comfortable experience.

Our office is unable to issue reminders in all cases. Only students with completed payment and permission can attend. No late payments will be accepted.

Activity Risks Insurance

Activity Risks Insurance - The activity outlined above carries an inherent risk of physical injury occurring. Please note that the Department of Education and Training does not have personal accident insurance cover for students. If your child is injured as a result of an accident or incident, all costs associated with the injury, including medical costs are the responsibility of the parent/carer. Some incidental medical costs may be covered by Medicare. If you have private health insurance, some costs may be also be covered by your provider. Any other costs must be covered by parents/carers. It is up to all parents/carers to decide what types and what level of private insurance they wish to arrange to cover their child. Please take this into consideration in deciding whether or not to allow your child to participate in this activity. I understand and acknowledge the above. *
